The Eternal Dance of Yin & Yang
The Taoists use yin and yang to describe two opposing forces that make up everything that exists. And we all have yin and yang within us. Men are essentially more yang and women are essentially more yin.
Sexual attraction needs polarity.
For sexual attraction to be truly hot, there needs to be polarity. This polarity is based on the play between the forces of yin and yang.
It is a common phenomenon in today's Western world that there are some of us women who have lost touch with our feminine essence and who desire to reconnect with our femininity.
We may work in a highly paid job in an highly pressurised environment that demands of us to develop yang qualities. These yang qualities that serve us in our job we take over into our relationships and our sexuality.
What serves us well to get ahead in a yang-oriented work environment does not necessarily serve us well when it comes to relationships and sex.
We often see that in long-term relationships this polarity becomes neutralised. With the polarity being neutralised so often is the attraction. I am sure you know of plenty of couples who have become best friends and stopped being lovers.
For lasting relationships with a fulfilling and hot sex life it is essential that polarity remains. The dance between the forces of yin and yang - the continuous play of pushing and pulling, of moving towards and of moving away, of being active and of being receptive - needs to continue.
Yin and yang need each other. The two opposing forces are complementing each
other. And when you look at the yin yang symbol you will see that yang has within
yin and yin has within yang.
The dance of yin and yang is not limited to a heterosexual couple.
While men are essentially more yang and women are essentially more yin, there are men and woman whose inner essence is not in tune with their physical sex. There are women with a strong yang essence and men with a strong yin essence.
So no matter if you are a heterosexual, homosexual or transsexual couple, in any couple, either partner can express yin or yang. What is important is that both partners express the opposites at the same time.
A great book to read on the subject of polarity is David Daida's book
